As summer wanes, this issue is led off with a feature essay by Micaela Deitz comparing being on one side of the desk in Papers, Please with being on the other side of a bureaucracy virulently opposed to her identity. Find it here:
Papers, Please and the Reality of Being an American Tranny - Micaela Deitz
I also was fortunate to work with Shafer Brown on bringing to life an illustration inspired by Micaela's writing. It was awesome working with them to blend the influences of Micaela's lived experience with the imagery of Papers, Please.
The site has also been redesigned to better align to the issue-driven nature of Deleted Saves.
Two more essays will arrive throughout the month to round out Deleted Saves #3: one by me on Disco Elysium's music, and one by Mazen Haggen on Final Fantasy XVI's Dhalmekia. Keep an eye on your inbox and follow us on Bluesky so you don't miss them! There's a ton of great writing coming throughout the rest of the year so I hope you'll come along for the ride.
